‘Bernie’ Carano learned the unique family recipes and artisanal sausage making techniques from Savino. Loved by fine cooks throughout the Detroit area, their sausage was one of the most popular items sold at Piemonte Market.
Piemonte Market moved to West Seven Mile Road in Detroit in 1963. The sausages again carried the business appealing to Italian and non-Italian customers alike. After retiring Bernie passed on the family sausage making tradition to his children.
In 2014, Susan and Claude began producing Piemonte Sausage commercially. As fourth generation sausage makers, they continue the family tradition
Piemonte Sausage makers, Susan and Claude are carrying on Savino and Bernie’s fine tradition of producing distinctive artisanal sausages. Some are based on the family recipes and others are regional or seasonal favorites.
